Our cruise was a lot of fun. We went with approximately 300 people related to K-Z
Recreational Vehicles, either as dealers or factory employees. We flew down to Miami and spent the night before boarding the Valor, a 110,000 ton Carnival cruise ship that holds 2,900 passengers. When we left Miami, the weather was fairly warm and beautiful.
Our first day at sea was the same, so we spent much of it around the pool. I signed us up for excursions off the ship in each of the stops only to land in the Cayman Islands in pouring rain. We had chosen a beach package and had to forfeit. Then, we sailed to Rattan, Honduras and where we went on a Kayak for a snorkel trip, which unfortunately was not very good. However, on land there were the most incredible monkeys that crawled all over everyone. That was worth seeing!
Then, we next went to Belize and again it was cloudy and rainy. We boarded a bus and drove out into the country where caves had been discovered 8 years ago. At one point we climbed into a smaller bus that wove through the jungle and walked about 45 minutes in and out of the caves. Following the exciting cave exploration we got on inner tubes and floated down a river back to our bus--it was awesome! That was the coolest thing we did.
The final day we were supposed to land in Costa Maya but the seas were too rough and they couldn't get into the harbor. It was pouring rain. Saturday was our last day at sea and this time the waves developed into 10 to 12 foot swells. There were many seasick people including my mom. She got better but for a while she was looking a little green.
Sunday we anchored back in Miami and finally had good weather. Our flight didn't leave until around 4 in the afternoon, so we caught a shuttle to an alligator farm and toured the Everglades, which was fun.
The few hours of pleasure were short lived. When we arrived at the airport it was chaos! The machines for checking in were confused by three George Sutton's and it put the system out of whack. I got Georgie (George Sutton #3) and us squared away but not dad (George Sutton #1) and mom. Luckily, they were flying First Class and I caught a lone American Airlines person to help, otherwise we would not have made the flight!
Now we are back in the saddle and very happy to be home for a while. Mom and dad did just fine on the travel and seemed to have a great time in spite of the foul weather. The food and entertainment was terrific, and the rooms were very nice, too.
